Life History & Behaviour

Alpheus parvirostris have a reasonably simple life history, going through  egg, planktonic and adult stages. Life history traits were particular focused on egg development and how this changes over time as the embryonic shrimp develops.   The focus of their behaviour consists of mating, rearing eggs and snapping their largest chelae to warn off predators and other intruders.  They are also known to moult like all other crustaceans.
